We frequently use these resources as recommendations in our assessment reports. We hope you find them useful.
Please use this referral form when asking for an assessment. Ideally, it is to be completed jointly by both school and parents/carers. However, where this is not possible, the main referrer can complete the form and we will contact you if more information is required. A permission signature of someone with parental responsibility is essential before a referral can be discussed.
This Leaflet explains briefly to parents who we are, what we do and how we do it. We make it available to all parents. We request that schools give a copy to parents when completing the referral form.
The Two-Minute Game was devised by Dianne when she was a SENCo. It combines the principles of Precision Teaching with Simultaneous Oral Spelling. This resource provides an effective method for over-learning spellings or other curriculum facts. It only takes two minutes a day and is suitable for any age-group.
This is an established strategy which improves reading fluency and confidence in any reader. It provides lots of opportunity for shared enjoyment and discussion about the book. It supports struggling readers to access texts that would be too difficult for them to read on their own. Here is how to do it.
This is a strategy used by the Nessy Learning Programme to encourage the over-learning of reading and spelling skills. It can actually be used for learning any subject facts across the school curriculum and is suitable for all age-groups. It can be played 'against the clock' to add to the challenge.
Nessy have developed a range of resources and apps to support those with dyslexia acquire skills in literacy, touch typing and numeracy. We frequently recommend Nessy Learning in our assessment reports as they are both effective and fun
These pens, suitable for secondary pupils and allowed for exam access arrangements support reading and access to text. Chrysalis has a Reader 2 pen for pupils to trial if they wish to.
Crick Software have developed resources for primary and secondary pupils who struggle with writing for any reason. Each resource has a range of tools that can be reduced as the pupil progresses. We often recommend these resources in our assessment reports to promote independence.
